kate brushwood

Before coming to yoga, Kate was a dancer and dance teacher, so she has known throughout her life about the joy of movement. She is a passionate advocate of the importance of moving for everyone. She has gradually moved away from dance and towards yoga as this aligns more with her belief that moving is an end in itself rather than how it looks. She has now been practicing yoga for over 20 years and teaching for 11.

Kate’s other joy is reading, about yoga but lots of other things too! She is fascinated by how these ancient teachings of yoga can be used to help us function in this world with more ease. She enjoys sharing her years of experience and study to give people tools to look after themselves both mentally and physically, and is always open and enquiring as to how these traditions can evolve to stay relevant to the challenges of the modern world.

Kate’s classes are welcoming and inclusive, creating a nourishing space to explore self-awareness and acceptance. She loves the sense of community created through shared yoga practice, with one of her favourite aspects of the job being the wonderful people she has met and learned so much from. Kate also loves music and after many years of teaching dance and choreography thinks she has some pretty good playlists!
